Mexico City Transport Schedule Changes for Holy Week

Mexico City has announced changes to public transport schedules for Holy Week and Easter. Extended hours will be in effect for the Metro and Metrobús services. Specifically, Metrobús lines 1, 2, and 7 will operate from 4:30 AM to 1:00 AM. On Easter Sunday, service will run from 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM on all 7 Metrobús lines, subject to closures based on traffic conditions. The Metro system will operate on a holiday schedule from 7:00 AM to 12:00 AM on Holy Thursday and Good Friday, April 2nd and 3rd. During these days, passengers are allowed to bring bicycles and are advised to use the first or last car. While students are on vacation, these days are not mandatory holidays for all sectors, and many workplaces will operate as usual. Holy Week in Iztapalapa is considered the most significant representation in Mexico, drawing millions of attendees each year. Organized since the 19th century, the event features a reenactment of the Via Crucis at Cerro de la Estrella, where a local actor portrays Jesus. This event has been recognized as an intangible cultural heritage of Mexico City.
